The short version
Missing Link has no accounts, and we don't collect your name, email or anything else that identifies you. We count plays anonymously so we know how many people play and how hard each puzzle is.
What stays on your device
Your browser saves a few things so the game works the way you expect:
- Your progress on today's puzzle, so you can leave and come back.
- Your stats: games played, streaks, misses per game and past results.
- Your light or dark setting.
- A random ID made up by your browser (for example
3f2c…). It isn't tied to you, your device or any other site.
Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes all of it, including your stats.
What we record on our server
When you play the daily puzzle, our server records, under that random ID: that you opened the puzzle, that you made a guess, when you finished and how many misses you had, and whether you tapped Share. We use this to count daily players and see which puzzles are too hard or too easy.
If you send a report, we save what you wrote, which puzzle it was about, and the random ID. Please don't put personal information in a report.
We don't sell or share this information.
Our host
The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles your IP address to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks. We don't store IP addresses in our play counts. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for how they handle data.
The game's fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser downloads them.
Ads
There are no ads today. If we add them, ad partners may use cookies, and we'll update this page before they go live.
Kids
Missing Link is a general-audience word game. We don't knowingly collect information from children, and we don't collect personal information from anyone.
